Henry L. Nordhoff, Chairman of the Board
Mr. Nordhoff served as President and CEO of Gen-Probe Incorporated for fifteen years until his retirement in May 2009. He remains Chairman. Prior to joining Gen-Probe Inc., Mr. Nordhoff served as President and CEO of TargeTech, Inc., a gene therapy company after holding several senior positions at Pfizer Inc. in Brussels, Seoul, Tokyo and New York. Mr. Nordhoff has degrees from Johns Hopkins and Columbia Universities.
Mr. Nordhoff currently is Vice Chairman of the Shipston Group, leading the private equity firm’s healthcare investments in Asia.
Mr. Nordhoff is active with a number of philanthropic biotech organizations, and is past Chairman of the California Healthcare Institute and the San Diego Regional Economic Corporation.
Lawrence A. Zulch, CEO
Zulch was a VP at EMC Corporation, founder and CEO of Dantz Development (acquired by EMC) and has been on the boards of several venture-backed companies. Larry Zulch is President and CEO of Photometics, Inc., which is developing a cancer therapy using an infrared laser to stimulate apoptosis.
Dr. Reuven Duer, Founder & Chief Science Officer
Prior to founding PLC Diagnostics, Dr. Duer was a Director at Lynx Photonic Networks and has had extensive experience in photonics and waveguides. Dr. Duer got his Ph.D. in Physics from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and his Master degree from Weizmann Institute of Science.
Prof. James N. Herron, Founder & Advisory Board Chairman
Dr. Herron is associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Bioengineering, University of Utah. Known for his many accomplishments including planar waveguide optical biosensors for proteins and nucleic acids, Dr. Herron has published many scientific articles and holds a number of US patents.
Dr. Abraham Sofaer, Founder, Board Member & Senior Advisor
Dr. Sofaer is George P. Shultz Distinguished Scholar and Senior Fellow, The Hoover Institution; Stanford University, Professor of Law, by Courtesy, Stanford Law School; and board member of Gen-Probe, Inc. and Rambus, Inc.
Marc Abramowitz, Board Member
For the last thirty years, Mr. Abramowitz has been an active private investor who has invested in, operated, and sold a diverse set of businesses including Orthopedic Systems, Inc and Skandiaverken AB. Mr. Abramowitz is active with a number of philanthropic organizations and sits on the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institution. Mr. Abramowitz has degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, Harvard Law School, and Stanford University, graduating as a Sloan Fellow.
Herbert M. Dwight, Jr., Board Member
After engineering positions at Hewlett Packard and Varian, Dr. Dwight founded and became CEO of Spectra Physics, Inc., then CEO of Superconductor Technologies, Inc., and Chairman and CEO of Optical Coating Laboratory. Past chairman of the American Electronics Association, Dr. Dwight has served on numerous boards, including Applied Materials Inc., Trans Ocean Limited, and the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Dr. Dwight has degrees from Arizona State University, Stanford, and an honorary doctorate from Sonoma State University.
